Install Instructions
A video showing the steps you need to take for this re-install can be viewed here
Step 1. Download the DroidPlayer firmware from the links above:
Step 2. Get an SD memory card that is at least 1GB in size Unzip or extract the downloaded firmware ZIP file to a location on your PC. Once unzipped, you will see you have 3 files. Copy these to your SD memory card.
NOTE: This step of unzipping/extracting the zip file is very important! On a PC, once you have downloaded the file, you should be able to right click on the zip file and choose ‘Extract all’ then choose a location where you want to ‘Extract/unzip’ the files to.
Step 3. You should now have 3 files on your SD card called factory_update_param.aml, dp.zip and recovery.img. (You do not need to unzip the dp.zip now on your card, just leave it as it is)
NOTE: Please ensure that the 3 files are in the root of your SD card, and not stored within a folder on your SD card.
Step 4. Slot your SD card into the box and get yourself a matchstick, wooden toothpick, thin jewellers screwdriver or a paper-clip. You’ll need this to reset the box.
Step 5. At the back of the box you will see a hole labelled ‘AV’. Inside this hole, at the end, is the reset button (told you you’ll need that toothpick!) Insert your chosen device into the hole and you will feel a clicking button at the end. You will need to press and hold this button in a minute.
Step 6. Ensure you have the HDMI cable plugged in now and the power cable in easy reach with one hand whilst you use your other hand to press the rest button with your reset tool.
Step 7. Push and hold the reset button using your chosen tool then plug in the power cable, keeping the reset button pressed in during this process!
Step 8. With the reset button still pressed using your tool, the screen should flash up an opening logo. Keep the reset button pressed until you see the following image of the Android figure stood up:
Step 8. When you see the Android figure like this, you can remove your reset tool from the AV hole (and put it somewhere safe for next time). The progress bar below the Android figure will move to the right for a bit and then after about two or three minutes you will see a menu screen. Simply choose to ‘reboot now’.
Step 9. Once rebooted you will see the DroidPlayer splash screen. After about a 40 second wait you will see the welcome screen
Step 10. After this you will load into the main Android homescreen. Press SETUP on your remote or scroll along and choose SETTINGS from the main menu.
Step 11 From here tick the Wifi box (or tick ethernet and exit settings if you are cabled up) and then enter your network password and connect now. Once connected come out of settings and select XBMC from the main Android menu
Step 12 This will present you with our new installer screen. Choose to Install DP and then follow the prompts to download and install the latest config. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR BOX OR EXIT THE PROGRAM WHILST INSTALLING
Once installation has finished it will return you back to the Android home screen. You now have our latest config.

Hi, please email us for help on this helpdesk@gostreamer.com
MXQ-4k is stuck on the home screen. When I try to reset or install firmware the android icon comes up on its’ back with a red and yellow exclamation mark. Help
Hi, my driod player show Andriod man for split second then some text on left side of screen, then Gosteam logo then, process starts again andriod man text etc.
Hi, sorry to hear that. I take it this happens when trying to perform the firmware install? If you are able to get to the android homepage, take a look in ALL APPS for an app called REBOOT MANAGER. If yo have this app installed, open it up and choose REBOOT RECOVERY and with the SD card plugged in, it will reboot and reflash the firmware for you.
I am using DP box Amlogic A9 Dual Core, Android 4.4.2 and updated MX2 – v1.8.5. When I install the Kodi basic version not the preloaded, I find out that the screen gets black when the download finish. The message says that the system will restart automatically, but this didn’t happen. I tried to install the Kodi again with the preloaded option but the case still the same.
Hi, we noticed this happen in the rare occasion. Usually, pressing the home key on the remote will bring you back to the homepage. You can then click Kodi again and it should start up into the config you chose. If this is not the case, drop us an email for more help. helpdesk@gostreamer.com
Just turn the power off using the remote and turn it back on again, then it boots up as normal
Hi, I’ve just updated my MXQ box with the (Kodi16) Droidplayer Quadcore MXQ – v1.8.6 firmware and it hasn’t come up with the droid player or XBMC. Can I install them separately or have I done something wrong??
Hi, XBMC has been renamed to Kodi. It should be visible as a blue coloured square with a white ‘K’ on it. Droiplayer has become Gostreamer now so all firmware will be branded with Gostreamer
Guys anyway to add bluetooth to mxq droid player by external adapter??
Hi, we don’t believe so however there may be a device coupled with an app that lets you do this.
Any chance of lolipop on mx2?
We would love to. Our issue is that the manufacturers of the chipset drivers that these boxes use don’t tend to revisit a box to create new drivers for it after a period of time. The MX2 has been around for at least 4 years now so it’s unlikely that a full set of drivers for lolipop will be released for it.
Hi updated firmware on my dp mxq and now kodi addons have stopped working. Exodus works fine on phone and tablet. Tried to factory reset but it’s not the build that it arrived with? Help please
Hi. When you say factory reset, do you mean you have downloaded our latest firmware and installed it using an SD card?
Hi, any chance of seeing Android 5.0 for the MXQ? Or will this be the same deal as the MX2 as per comment above? Cheers
In all likelihood it will be the same as MX2 I’m afraid 🙁
i i succeeded in updatig my dual core box mx2 it took me a few trial an errors followed the instructins to download to the sd card hey presto
wifi not working after using droidplayer did the es file explorer removing file still does not work
Which box do you own? Is it an official Droidplayer box? Which firmware do you have installed?
My box was working fine, then i downloaded the new firmware and now it crashes all the time. I have the droidplayer box
Hi, sorry to hear this. Please contact support@gostreamer.com to get a resolution.

Hi. Tried to update M8S with your latest firmware and now my box won’t even switch on (No Blue Light). I have updated firmware before on many boxes and this is the 1st time I have encountered a problem.
Can you help me please.
Many Thanks Kev.
Hi, Can you contact us at support@gostreamer.com with your order information so that we can resolve your issue ASAP. Thanks
Hi. Kevin again….REF:- M8S issue.
My original post 18th Sept 2016).
I managed to flash firmware but wifi wont connect and ethernet kicks out after 10mins. Can you help please is there a zip file you could email to me to help.
Many Thanks.
P:s On my Mxq boxes your firmware works flawlessly.
Hi – I followed the steps but on step 8, the android figure is on its back and the option to reboot, install from EXT, restore, etc appear. I downloaded and copied the files to an SD card using an iMac but assume this should not be an issue.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Hi, iMac should be fine (typing this reply on one). Ensure that you have 3 files in the root of the SD card. One of them is a zip file. Are you able to use reboot manager to install the firmware as per this blog post? https://www.gostreamer.com/how-to/installing-android-firmware-from-sd-card-using-reboot-manager-app/
How to you find out what firmware to use, as I’ve looked at the sticker under mine and it says Droidplayer Quad and nothing else.
You should use the DP MXQ version
what does secure check failed. (Not match)
WHere are you seeing this? For any other questions and advice, be sure to start a post on our forum https://www.gostreamer.com/forum/
I followed your instructions using OTA updater – selecting wipe data & wipe cache but at the end of the install I merely got a continuously flashing screen . I therefore download the Firmware for my MX2 dual core , copied the 3 files to an empty sd card , followed your instruction completely but when it reboots & I get the ‘MBOX’ recovery screen & the same blank screens afterwards. I suspect its going into a system recovery loop and IS NOT PICKING UP THE FILES FROM THE SD CARD. Tried copying files to a USB stick but still same results SO I CANNOT MANUALLY UPDATE the box .If I just try a manual recovery by depressing the button inside AV & the plugging in the power I get the same results, so is there anything further I can do apart from discarding the android box.

Where can I download the Droidplayer Dualcore MX2 – v1.8.5 ?
This MX2 is not connected to the internet. I just need to files to put on SD card to update
Hi, 1.8.5 is the OTA version and 1.8.3 is the base version. They are the same in all other ways. For any other questions and advice, be sure to start a post on our forum https://www.gostreamer.com/forum/
I’ve downloaded the firmware but no matter what I do it keeps saying error when I try copying it to my sd card! Any suggestions that don’t include a sledge hammer or dragging the guy over the counter who sold me this box!!!
Hi, is your SD card unlocked? Little switch on the side of it. Down is usually locked. Up is unlocked. Failing that, are you able to format the card?

On my second box from you guys after the first one completely failed.
Guess what…This one has too…only in a lot shorter timespan than the last one.
Last night, whole box was running really slow.
Decided to reinstall Droidplayer MXQ software for a fresh start.
Doesn’t work.
When using the Manual Reset with SD Card, it boots into Android Recovery Screen. With the Android Man lying down.
When using the Reboot Manager app…exactly the same issues.
So no fresh start. Droidplayer without Kodi ( I tried to delete Kodi and re-download to see if that helped with the incredibly poor performance of the box).
New version of Kodi doesnt work on MXQ boxes so I have nowhere to get that from either.
You guys are falling miles behind in terms of your technology and firmware, As for selling “Update” memory cards to use the new Kodi…absolutely disgraceful.
Sort your current problems out before trying to sell more stuff to people that will probably be obsolete in 3 months.
Hi,
this sounds like an issue with your SD card. Have you used a different SD card for this? Booting straight into recovery happens as the device cannot read the SD card. Happens to us all the time.
Falling behind with technology and firmware? We have launched two boxes in the past month, the TX5 Pro and the T8X. We are due to launch another new Dual Boot running Marshmallow 6.0 shortly.
Are you suggesting that us releasing a dual boot firmware that allows MXQ owners to have Kodi 17 on a LibreELEC partition is not helping our customers create more longevity to the devices they invested in?
We have no control over what apps or add-ons you add to your MXQ to make it slow. Our new release of LibreELEC dual boot firmware means that you no longer need to have Kodi on your Android box, you can use it via LibreELEC.
If you have any other issues, you are welcome to email us directly helpdesk@gostreamer.com

Any idea why?
Well that bricked it!! No u-boot.bin. Any clues? tx!
Hi,
I have a Kodi box ‘MXS Plus Amlogix s905’. I got this a year and a half ago. It was awesome. I got a lot of HD shows and movies. But nowadays I don’t see any HD moves nor shows. It also buffers a lot. The seller sent me a link to a firmware. I downloaded it, but the file has .img extension. I don’t know how to install a .img file. Please help.
Thanks,
Sam
Brilliant. My MXQ box is now fully working. Even the wifi.
I had previously used a different firmware site which messed up my box.
Cheers guys.
Keep up the good work
